For Wendy, moving into Woolooware Shores marks the beginning of a new and exciting chapter — one filled with community, support, and peace of mind.
“My name’s Wendy, and I’m a new resident of Woolooware Shores,” she says with a smile. “I’ve got mixed feelings, actually — a little bit sad at leaving my home of 30 years, but I’m looking forward to this new chapter of my life.”
Wendy’s decision to move wasn’t made overnight. “I’ve had a number of friends move to retirement villages, and the ones who came to Woolooware Shores were people who had settled in very well,” she recalls. “I always liked what they said — that they felt as though they were on permanent holidays when they were here. So I thought, when the time comes for me, that’s where I want to go.”
That time arrived when Wendy realised maintaining her four-bedroom home and garden was becoming too much. “I found that I could no longer comfortably manage it,” she says. “So I thought, this is the time. I’ve had a smooth process — and here I am, first day at Woolooware Shores.”

Before deciding, Wendy attended one of the village’s open days. “Some friends told me it was happening, so I came along. I very much liked what I saw,” she says. “It was just the push I needed to go ahead and start the process.”
Wendy describes her move as “stress-less” — a word not often used when it comes to moving house. “When Woolooware Shores introduced me to Marnie and her team from Messy No More, it was the best thing that ever happened,” she says. “They made things so smooth — the transition, the downsizing, everything. I had to do very little. They did just about everything for me. As I’m speaking, they’re unpacking everything for me!”
Now that she’s settling in, Wendy is excited about all that retirement living has to offer. “From what my friends have told me, there are a number of activities that I’m interested in,” she says. “I’m a Christian, so it being run by Anglicare makes me feel very happy. Everybody is so friendly, so cooperative — residents and staff alike. I feel very comfortable coming here, and I know that going forward, I’m going to be happy.”

Her family couldn’t agree more. “They’re very happy about it,” she says. “They felt it would be a good thing for me to be somewhere I chose, in case of later life — not somewhere I’d have to be pushed into when I couldn’t manage at home.”
And as she looks ahead, Wendy feels reassured knowing she has access to care when she needs it. “It’s a really good feeling of confidence to know that these care facilities are available when they’re needed,” she says.
For Wendy, Woolooware Shores is not just a new address — it’s the peace of mind and community she was waiting for.
